Seaqloud takes a new step in its growth strategy by acquiring Sematek - Center for Materials Technology.
The acquisition is Seaqloud's third in two years, following the integration of software company Naviaq and environmental monitoring systems Guardian.
This acquisition combines Seaqloud's leading sensor and software solutions with Sematek's specialized products for leak detection and load measurement. The result is an even more complete supplier of monitoring and operational solutions to the aquaculture industry.
Strengthens environmental monitoring and operational safety
Seaqloud's technology gives fish farmers a total overview of environmental conditions both above and below water, as well as operations, equipment and logistics. By integrating Sematek's sensors, customers also gain better control over the condition of structures, maintenance needs and safety. This contributes to a longer lifespan for equipment and a reduced risk of breakdowns and escapes.
- The combination of Seaqloud's sensor technology and software makes it easier for fish farmers to meet environmental monitoring requirements. With Sematek's products, we get an even stronger tool for operational safety," says Frode Næss, CEO of Seaqloud.
Sematek's main products are:
Both systems collect and store data continuously. In addition, Sematek delivers wave dampers and performs service on structures in steel, composite and other materials.
Sematek's sensor products are a good technological and industrial match for Seaqloud. The acquisition contributes to Seaqloud being able to offer even more comprehensive operational solutions for the aquaculture industry.
Geographical expansion to Western Norway
Seaqloud has offices in Alta, Tromsø, Namsos and Trondheim. With Sematek, the company now has a permanent presence in Western Norway - one of Norway's most central aquaculture regions. Sematek is located in Bergen and will soon move into larger premises to strengthen its service capacity.
- Until now, Seaqloud's geographical focus has been from Finnmark to Trøndelag. Through Sematek, we gain a presence in Western Norway, which is also a very important aquaculture region. The acquisition is geographically complementary, which is positive for both Sematek and Seaqloud," concludes Frode Næss.
Sematek becomes part of the Seaqloud family
Sematek will be integrated with Seaqloud, but continue as a separate company. All of Sematek's employees will stay on.
With the acquisition of Sematek, Seaqloud consolidates its position as a complete supplier of sensor technology, software and operational support for an increasingly technology-driven aquaculture industry.
