Malin Sund (23) is the new UX designer at the technology company Seaqloud, which supplies software, sensors and technology to the aquaculture industry.
UX design stands for "user experience design" and is about creating an optimal user experience on a website or application.
Lisbeth Plassen, CEO of the company, tells Kyst.no that they need someone who can take control of the user experience in their products.
- Malin, with a degree in Computer Science and a bachelor's thesis on mapping user needs and evaluating prototypes, fits this need like a glove.
Plassen says that Sund will be responsible for coordinating and managing the visual design and user experience for Seaqcloud's software products.
- The merger between Seacloud and Naviaq has given us many opportunities to offer even better solutions for the aquaculture industry, and we believe an increased focus on the user experience will yield the best results.
Seaqloud AS now has 24 employees in Alta, Trondheim, Tromsø and Namsos.
New employee Malin Sund tells Kyst.no that UX design is one of her favorite areas when it comes to software development.
- My initial plan was to look for a part-time job and continue my studies, but then I found the job ad at Seaqloud and applied for it. As I learned more about the position, I knew that this was something I really wanted to work with and that suited me very well. I ended up getting a job offer, which was an opportunity I couldn't turn down," she says.
Sund says that the start-up has been very good.
- I've been made to feel very welcome by everyone and I'm well underway with my training. There's a lot to get to grips with, but fortunately there's a good team here who have been good at explaining all sorts of things I'm wondering about.
Sund grew up in the coastal town of Rørvik and moved to Trondheim to study in 2020, where she has lived and thrived ever since.
She started her new job on September 2. The only work experience Sund has in the aquaculture industry is that she worked as a summer substitute at SinkabergHansen while still living in Rørvik.
- What are your ambitions and goals in your new position?
- The goal is to be able to contribute my expertise and, together with the team, further develop and create good solutions. In general, I just want to get even better and learn even more. The advantage of being new is that you have fresh eyes and can see things in a different way, which perhaps makes you think in a different way and can come up with new suggestions for how things can be improved," she concludes.
